Establishment of Community Radio Stations (CRS) 

 

BECIL provides comprehensive consultancy, project management, and turnkey implementation services for the establishment of Community Radio Stations (CRS) across India for Central and State Government organizations, educational institutions, universities, autonomous bodies, NGOs, societies, and other eligible organizations. Leveraging its extensive experience in the broadcasting sector, BECIL ensures seamless execution of CRS projects in accordance with the policy guidelines of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB).

 

The scope of services covers the entire project lifecycle, including preparation and submission of applications, obtaining statutory approvals and clearances, technical planning and system design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, training of personnel, and operationalization of the Community Radio Station. BECIL also provides post-commissioning technical handholding, maintenance support, capacity building, and advisory services to ensure the long-term sustainability and efficient operation of the stations.

 

By facilitating the establishment of Community Radio Stations, BECIL contributes to strengthening grassroots communication, promoting local culture and education, disseminating developmental information, and empowering communities through participatory broadcasting.

 

 

During the year, BECIL undertook and executed projects for the establishment of Community Radio Stations for the following organizations: -

  • Establishment of Community Radio Station of Radio Styavani FM 88.4 of Apeejay Stya University at Village Silani in Sohna town of District Gurugram, State Haryana

  • Establishment of Community Radio Station at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun.

The station was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, on 13 July 2026, with the objective of promoting science communication, disseminating educational and developmental information, and enhancing public outreach through community-based broadcasting.
